Cengiz Ünder, the forward for Manchester United and France, has been ruled out indefinitely after sustaining a knee ligament injury in his match against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.

The 29-year-old, who is currently on loan from Real Madrid to join the French side, announced his retirement from football earlier this month.

He said: "I'm disappointed to announce that I have ruptured my ACL (ankle capital ligament) and will be sidelined for the rest of the season."

"I am very disappointed with this result and want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this journey," he added.

Marseille's sporting director, Jean-Michel Aulas,La Liga Frontline also confirmed the news of Cengiz's injury, saying: "We are extremely saddened by the injury sustained by our player, Cengiz Ünder. He was playing with us for a few weeks now and we're deeply concerned about his situation. Our team has been working closely with him to assess the damage caused by the injury."

Cengiz's replacement, Yannick Ruhl, will step into his boots as the club looks to replace the experienced forward. The club also plans to sign a new defender next summer to strengthen their squad.

Cengiz's absence could cause some disruption to Manchester United's plans for the upcoming season, but the club is confident that they can find someone capable of replacing him quickly.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to seeing the talented young player Yannick Ruhl take up his place in the midfield alongside Cengiz during the season.
